1970s Barbara Keyhole Dress - Black
Named for the iconic Biba woman - think Barbara Hulanicki’s in-house muse - this is where late 1960s sharpness meets early 1970s fluid femininity! In classic black, Barbara becomes timeless. Not trend-led. Not seasonal. Simply enduring.
The high neckline with its delicate keyhole cut-out nods to the poised drama of late 60s London, polished, graphic, intelligent. Covered buttons trail down the bodice in that unmistakably Biba way, creating vertical focus and subtle theatricality without ever feeling overstated.
Styles in the 1970s drew much influence from earlier decades - this is a simply gorgeous dress with a touch of Edwardian and 1930s style. We love the raised collar and deep plunge keyhole neckline.
The silhouette is super flattering. Nipped in at the waist with gathers under the bustline and a deep keyhole neckline with mandarin collar. Four panel swing skirt. Long sleeves with gathers into the sleeve head. Button fastening below the bow and on the collar - but we have added a back zip too for ease.
