1970s Suits
The 1970s suit was power dressing before it had a name. Wide lapels, high-rise flared trousers and rich corduroy defined a confident, slightly androgynous look. Our 1970s suits are made in Yorkshire to our own designs, with a mid-1970s pant suit and two corduroy jacket-and-skirt suits.
The Bianca pant suit
Named after style muse Bianca Jagger, the Bianca jacket is cut in structured brown twill with strong shoulders, an exaggerated wide collar and a nipped-in waist. Wear it open over a blouse or buttoned up with the matching soft-flare trousers, which have a high rise, a clean line through the hip, a subtle flare and belt loops for a vintage leather belt.
The corduroy suit
There is something unmistakably 1976 about corduroy. Our wine and tan corduroy jackets have wide peak lapels, a single button at the waist and a lining, and pair with the matching A-line skirt for a British power suit. Both jacket and skirt work separately as well.
Add a pointed-collar shirt or peasant blouse underneath, and finish with long necklaces or a silk scarf. For outerwear on its own, see 1970s jackets, and for more of the decade browse the whole 1970s collection or read our 1970s style guide. UK sizes 8 to 18.
