We are rocking the glamorous 1970s styles right now and our second dress in this new collection captures a little of the design style of Ossie Clarke & Celia Birtwell from the mid '70s.
This dress is all about the plunge neckline - which is a particularly low v neck and common amongst the styles that this dress pays homage to. You will have to lose the bra, nudge it below and pin - or wear something that you 'mean' to show! This dress is SO easy to wear, looks super glam with minimal effort and since it's a manmade fibre (very 70s...) it can be washed quickly and easily.
Dress has gathers above bust into shoulder yoke. An obi style tie - wraps around or can tie at the back. These ties come out of a panel that sits under the bust and reaches just above the waist.
Skirt has pleats into the centre front and hangs beautifully into a slim skirt style.
Sleeves has a slight gather into sleeve head and reach elbow on most.
Key Features Include:-
- obi style wrap belt
- gathers into shoulder yokes
- back zip
- slim sleeves measure approx 32cm
Made in Yorkshire, England
Fabric: 100% polyester - luxury crepe
Washing instructions: machine wash 30 degrees
Length from shoulder neck point: approx 102cm
Dress is an easy fit as there are gathers in the bust area and pleats in the skirt. Since there isnt a waist seam and the dress wraps slightly above the waist - the waist doesnt influence fit much either.

I just received my package from HOF in record time. I can’t believe how quickly they shipped it to me across the pond. :) When I saw the Celia dress on the website I couldn’t resist ordering it. Even though I wasn’t wild about the idea of polyester material, the emerald green color and the design caught my attention. Well, I am stunned at how gorgeous the dress is in person! The color is even darker and more intense. Also, the fabric doesn’t feel like polyester at all. It has some weight to it and feels luxurious against the skin. With the proper bra, the plunging neckline is quite flattering and not over the top. My usual House of Foxy size is a 10 which is perfect in this dress as well. It does speak of the 1970’s, but IMHO it also has an elegant quality from generations before.
