1930s Ivy Velvet Dress - Green
Hear them murmur. "Who is SHE?" as you make a dramatic entrance in this enchanting velvet dress. (Taken from Sears catalogue 1938)
We are delighted with this gorgeous new velvet party dress design - which is based on the gorgeous style lines of the late 1930s and has some fantastic and authentic features.
Dress has a plunge neckline created by tucks and gathers of fabric high into the flattering high back neck. This emphasises the bust-line and gathers into authentic style shirring underneath. Skirt skims the body to create a flattering a-line skirt - just enough swing.
Sleeves finish just above the elbow and are very authentic in style. Tucks into the shoulder and has pretty vertical gathers towards the bottom of the sleeve.
Side Zip - unlined.

Beautifully sewn, flattering, comfortable against the skin, nice little details and makes me feel amazing. Looks even better in person than in photos. I was especially happy to find a velvet that looked so thick while also being light and airy. Was a great dinner dress on the Orient Express, and I’m looking forward to wearing it again.
Have bought this for my daughter’s wedding. The dress is so comfortable to wear and it looks fabulous on.
The dress is beautiful and very flattering. Shipping to Canada was free and very fast. However, I find the dress be a little overpriced judging just on the quality of sewing. There were quite a few loose threads and seams that weren't fully overlocked, and I had to re-hem the skirt because the hem looked too wobbly for my liking. I would like to order from this store again because I just love the design and I would like this dress in a different colour, but the price or the quality of the clothes should change.
I love the colour and drape of the material. I had been advised that it was a full bust, and it is indeed a little bigger in that area than I'd like, but otherwise fits very well.
