1940s O'Hara Cocktail Dress in Pacific
Film noir glamour is back. Our limited-edition ‘Pacific’ tone graces the return of ‘Ohara’... a timeless 1940s-style cocktail dress inspired by Dorothy O’Hara, the mid-century icon famed for her masterful draping and figure-flattering designs!
Dorothy O'Hara was known for being a designer at Paramount Studios throughout the 1940s but also had her own fashion label which thrived through the late 40s and 50s. Her designs were incredibly flattering with a focus on strong shoulders and a slim hip - using clever draping techniques to enhance and accentuate the female figure.
This dress is inspired by some of her 1940s designs via handling originals and photographs.
The beauty of this dress is how it flatters the figure whilst still being demure. We've used ruching at the hip and on bustline to create shape and interest whilst the ruching at the shoulders gives a strong 1940s silhouette.
Many of you will love the longer sleeves which have shaping darts on the inside elbow and the back zip for ease in getting the dress on. Full faux wrap on skirt.
This dress is potentially more versatile than it seems, wear with black accessories for practical purposes or glam up with some bling and a fancy up do.
