Sizing Info

It can be really tricky buying clothing online - especially now that retailers can vary so much in their sizing. So it is important you check our sizing chart below before ordering but also - please check sizing information on each garment using the sizing guide tab on the product page.

The House of Foxy Sizing Information:-

The majority of our stock is our own UK/Europe manufactured brand and uses the size guide below - all measurements are in cm & inches and relate to 'your' body measurements NOT the garments themselves. This is because the garment can vary according to the style, fit and whether there is stretch in the fabric. Please see 'fit classes' below for further information on this.

Fit Class Guide

Each garment has additional size guide information accessible via the 'size guide' tab above the product title to help you with your purchase. Some garments are made with stretchy material and this may affect your size purchase.

So to help you further we have created a 'fit guide' key - since garments fit differently, we will label each garment with one of the phrases below:-

Stretch-fit - garment has been designed to fit close to the body and follow body shape. Has been made in a stretch fabric such as jersey or bengelene and as such, garment will measure slightly below body measurements in order to accommodate the stretch of the fabric.

Fitted - fits close to the body.  When garment is measured, it will measure close/slightly below the body measurements in order to fit. Garment may be made in a fabric with some 'comfort stretch'.

Semi-fitted - skims the body so that is follows shape but is not tight. Might apply to comfort stretch garments and non stretch blouses that will measure close/up to 4cm larger than body measurements

Loose fit/Oversize - this garment fits loosely around body to create desired silhouette. Garment will measure up to 10cm above key body measurements in size guide. For example swing coats and oversize blouse garments.

Fit & Shape
We also like to advise on garment suitability for shape. We believe that this is as important as size and some garments are better for certain shapes. For example - pear shapes may prefer swing style skirts to tight fitting pencil styles. You will again find information and advice specific to the product on its page.

Measuring:
If you need to measure - please use the image on the right as a guide to show where you need to take measurements from. In particular, please note that the majority of our styles sit at the natural waist which is not the case with many modern garments.

Top Tip: Remember that the majority of vintage/heritage fashion garments are fitted around the 'natural' waist rather than lower in our modern fashions. This is approx 2 inch above the belly button at the slimmest part. We strongly suggest that you measure yourself prior to ordering.

Tolerance (variations in size)

There will sometimes be slight variations in product measurements - in the manufacturing industry this is called 'tolerance'. This is due to many factors including fabric dyes, fabric batch, button placement and craftmanship. Whilst we always endeavour to make our garments as identical as possible, we are only human and garments the same size when measured may vary.
