1940s Leaf Halo Beret - Rosewood
Another version of our favourite hand crafted 1940s beret style, often referred to as a 'Halo' hat and lovingly created here in Yorkshire. This new version features duo leaf style motif at the front inspired by an original and goes beautifully with all our upcoming Rosewood new colourway garments.
Bit of history....It would have been unusual for one to 'walk out' without a hat of some sort in the 1940s. Watch any black and white film from the 40s and you will see a plethora of styles from turbans, felted fedora styles and berets. The Halo hat evolved from the beret and was very iconic for the 40s and reflected the formality of the fashions.
These days we reserve hats for the races or a wedding - we say Bring back the Hat!
Our Halo hat really is the perfect topper for a 1940s outfit and super elegant - once you have worn this beauty a few times you will understand why the hat was so revered.
Although berets were common in the 30s and 40s - styles were often developed into elaborate styles to emulate hats but created in coordinating fabrics. This style is raised up higher on one side and finished with an extra price of the same fabric embellished to reflect the details on the Stanwyck dress and jacket. (although hat works equally well on its own).
Versatile style - the raised side can be worn to the front as a halo or to the side for a more demure look.
Made by a skilled and experienced local seamstress and friend of Foxy - these are limited edition and the polar opposite to mass produced.
Approx. 23" Circumference - with slight stretch
Fabric:-
Outer: Heavy crepe - poly/viscose blend
Lining: 100% polyester
Care:-
Surface clean and steam to refresh.
