Landgirl Breeches - Deep Olive Corduroy
Announcing the arrival of our new 'Landgirl Breeches' in olive corduroy!
Our own interpretation of the iconic style breeches worn by the land girls during the second world war. Whilst these are based on our best selling Plus Fours in terms of fit and fastenings - we have adapted them to reflect some of the key details seen in the original land girl breeches.
These fit on the natural waist with a deep waist band and have belt loops for a decent belt if wearer wishes. We have kept the 4 button side fastening rather than the bib front on the originals - making them look really elegant and flattering. Single back pocket keeps the lines sleek and unbulky.
Breeches are shaped to be fairly full on the thigh and narrow into a bottom cuff which laces via eyelets for personal adjustment. These are meant to side approx 4 inches from the knee but person judgement required for most flattering fit. Those with very long legs may find them more of a plus 2!

Love my breeches, not worn them enough due to being pregnant and having a baby. Would recommend sizing up, I'm usually a size 8 with 26in waist. I bought a size 8 and they fit great but sometimes feel the crotch can sit a little high. They are still comfortable and I've rode my horse in them so can confirm they are fit for purpose if you choose to wear them as such.

These are beautifully cut , made of high quality material - suitable for Summer or Winter - & finished with lovely buttons & laces . The colour errs towards light brown, to match with a myriad of coloured tops. I’m a size 10 & the size 10 is a perfect fit . They can be worn for a Land Army look or dressed up for a 1930s image - knee length boots or socks & flat shoes would suit in either case. I highly recommend.
Excellent fit, high quality, very well made! received endless compliments from friends and strangers. I might have liked a bit more room at hips, ( just a personal preference, because i went up the size with them, so it felt like they are my normal size ) maybe an inch or so, but still a perfect fit as is. It was my first purchase here, so might be unfamiliar with sizing. Love them nevertheless.

I very much wanted to love these, but my long thigh is too long for these. The inside seam measurement wasn't available onsite when I first ordered. (It's not you, it's me: saddle fitters comment on my lengthy thigh and recommend larger saddles accordingly.) I am thrilled to see that you have expanded your sizing range, just wish a taller option had been available.) Any chance of some off cut fabric, so that I could cobble together a longer bit above the knee?) And for the avoidance of doubt, might I suggest offering and inner seam measurement down to the crease of the knee (or however tailors would recommend measuring this). Love, love, love the idea. Land Gals would say, that measured properly, that breeches could be the most comfortable attire. Best of luck, and all that...
I guess it's a little odd writing a review for these breeches in June! However, since I didn't have a chance to wear them this year, I am so looking forward to wearing them this coming Fall and Winter! I am always a size 10 and sometimes a size 8 in HOF, but I sized up based on recommendations, and I'm glad I did. I am also just under 5ft tall, and I was concerned that they would look silly on someone as short as I am. They look great! I am beyond delighted. Now I wish Fall would hurry up and come already. :)
I wanted to add an addendum to my review. I am a solid size 10 UK, but I ordered a size 12 in the breeches. This has enabled me to have a lot of "wiggle" room, with a belt, they are absolutely perfectect for everyday!
I have been purchasing from HOF for a few😜years now. I'm generally happy with my purchases, though I find I need to be careful with the material in everyday life. - ie: cleaning, dog/cat/ children😂. These breeches are THE BOMB! Wonderful, practical, sturdy, and soft as a cloud. I wore them for a week straight, walking my Wolfhound and gardening, and they washed up pristine.
I can't believe I waited so long to review these smart, charming breeches! I can't wait for Fall and Winter to wear them again. I am a 10 in almost all HOF offerings, but I sized up to a 12 in the Landgirl Breeches. I'm glad I did as they are firm with no stretch in the waist. It was also a pleasant surprise that they look so good on my petite, less than 5ft frame.
