1940s Special Commission Two-Piece Suit
A very special piece of Foxy history - and a true one-off.
Originally created as a special commission for Bankfield Museum,Ā this remarkable two-piece suit takes its inspiration from an original 1940s tailored ensemble. We loved the finished piece so much that we couldn't resist creating this one-off opportunity to own a little piece of the story yourself.
Cut in a beautiful heritage-style rose and cream houndstooth check, the suit brings together the strong, sculpted tailoring of the 1940s with wonderfully feminine proportions. The cropped jacket creates a beautifully defined waist, while the A-line skirt falls cleanly from a deep waistband for that unmistakable mid-century silhouette.
And then there are those pockets! Statement diagonal flap details appear across both the jacket and skirt, giving the whole ensemble its wonderfully distinctive character and echoing the clever, considered details found in original 1940s tailoring.
The jacket features long sleeves with carefully placed darts through the sleeve head to create that characteristic structured shoulder, balanced by an elegant shawl collar and neatly cropped length. Worn with the matching skirt, it creates a striking head-to-toe look that feels every inch the 1940s tailored heroine.
