1940s Pinafore Dress - End of Line
The fabulous and elegant 1940s Pinafore dress that did a couple of seasons makes its final call. Some of the most beautiful pieces are the most simple...based on the utility styles of the early 1940s, this dress calls simplicity its greatest asset.
One of the key aspects of the 1940s styles is its simple and elegant style lines. Designed as a base to embellish with any array of detail including flowers and jewellery, we've based this dress on a few examples we found that we wanted to recreate.
Dress has simple bodice with V neckline, perfect for wearing over blouses. Darts go diagonally from bustline into near waist. Shoulders are quite wide to emulate the 1940s broad shoulder look. Skirt is a good swing style in 4 panels to maximise fabric usage and has handy pockets in the side seam!
Back zip - unlined.
The fabric is a wool blend - which means it will crease a little and requires hand wash or dry clean.
