About This Collection

Vintage Dresses

A vintage dress means something different in every decade, and our collection is built to reflect that. The 1920s brought the dropped waist and beaded hem of the flapper era; the 1930s introduced the bias cut, letting fabric skim the body rather than hang from the shoulder. By the 1940s, wartime rationing gave us the practical, endlessly wearable tea dress, while the 1950s split into two directions entirely - the full-skirted, petticoat-supported "wasp waist" look and the sculpted, close-fitting wiggle dress, both descended from Dior's 1947 New Look. The 1960s brought the shift dress and Mod tailoring as London overtook Paris as the fashion capital, and the 1970s closed the story with fluid, free-moving maxi dresses built for a new sense of liberation.

Every dress in this collection is designed in-house from an original vintage garment, photograph or pattern, then handmade in Yorkshire in authentic prints and fabrics - so you're not buying a costume, you're buying a real, wearable version of the silhouette that defined a decade.
