About This Collection

Vintage Party & Cocktail Dresses

A party dress is anything that makes an occasion feel like one; a cocktail dress is its dressier cousin, usually knee to midi length and cut from richer fabrics for the evening. Vintage styles suit both, because each era had its own idea of a good night out. Ours are reproductions of period designs, made in satin, crepe, georgette and velvet.

Vintage party and cocktail dresses by decade

  • 1920s: asymmetric and drop-waisted party dresses in georgette and satin. See 1920s dresses.
  • 1930s: the bias-cut Joanie dress with its soft cowl, and a velvet party dress taken from a 1938 Sears catalogue. See 1930s dresses.
  • 1940s: the film noir O'Hara cocktail dress and the Girl Friday midi. See 1940s dresses.
  • 1960s: the Manhattan cocktail dress, Jackie O and Coco dress and jacket sets, and a Carnaby mini. See 1960s dresses.
  • 1970s: disco and Ossie Clark inspired dresses, from the Venus to a floaty georgette frock. See 1970s dresses.
