No vintage outfit is complete without the right headwear, and every decade had its own signature. The 1940s gave us the halo beret and the turban - both practical wartime staples that became genuine style statements, worn as much for glamour as necessity. The 1920s and 30s favoured close-fitting hats like the cloche and the tilt hat, shaped to sit low over the brow. The 1960s brought the neat, structured pillbox hat, worn perched rather than pulled down.
