How to look smart through sweltering!
"Linen is one way and comes in answer to the well dressed woman's prayer for something in which to look both cool and chic though the mercury be in the neighborhood of one hundred" _McCall Fashion Catalogue 1933
We have been wanting to do an authentic, chic and elegant 1930s summer linen dress since The Durrells first graced our screens 5 years ago ;-) Named after Louisa Durrell, this dress encapsulates that mid 1930s art deco and assymetic design so stylish and iconic in this period.
Some fantastic and iconic 1930s features adorn this dress which we have produced in top quality 100% linen from local fabric producers - Brisbane Moss UK. Wrap style fastens with 6 wooden external buttons and popper on inside. Dress is loosly tailored and nips in with sash belt which has a lovely resin slider. The pocket on wearer right is a handy addition.
Typical of the 30s, dress reaches mid to low calf on average height ladies and is very straight. You will love how the skirt splits below the buttons - showing a touch of leg.
- sleeveless with squared sweetheart neckline
- sash belt with resin slider
- 6 wooden buttons
- wrap style
In versatile moss green linen!
Fabric: 100% linen - no stretch

*No stretch in this fabric - whilst this is a fantastic and authentic respresentation of a 1930s dress - it has a fairly straight cut, this means that it may not work well on all shapes without some adjustment. If you need any specific sizing advice - please contact us.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress!! Quality and detail are outstanding, as always. Perfect summer dress.
Absolutely lovely - chic, flattering, great quality, gorgeous colour (I bought the Flame too - expecting to keep just one but they’re too good!). The only niggle is - why doesn’t the belt have a loop to keep the extra length in place? It’s a shame to spoil the line by tucking it behind the belt (or adding a popper). But I’ll survive! True to size - and quite neat on the hips. If you’re pear-shaped with a small waist, it might not work unless you size up and have the waist altered. (And I’ll happily make myself a belt loop if there’s any Flame or Moss material left over - just saying ;)
We appreciate all customer feedback - so much so, that we will give you a £5 voucher for a helpful review. To qualify, we just need you to add your order number so we can verify your purchase.
