You...enchanting by day, stirring and glamorous by night. May we present our thrilling new 1930s dress we have called 'Joanie' in homage to hollywood star and 1930s style icon - Joan Crawford.
This is a captivating frock based on an original vintage 1930s garment with some modern enhancements thrown in.
This dress has some typical mid 1930s design trademarks including flattering cowl neckline, long bishops sleeves and has been cleverly cut in several bias cut panels to hug but still flatter the body. We've made it in our reproduction 1930s art deco Crocus print on rayon marocain which hangs beautifully - this dress really is the real deal!
New in this print: Dress features a belt which uses our splendid art deco clasp. This was painfully recreated from an original.
No zip - due to bias cut - pull over head.
Key 1930s features include:-
- cowl neckline
- long bishop sleeves with elastic at wrist
- keyhole at back
- art deco clasp belt
- calf length - approx 28 inches from natural waist (this will change depending on your own shape)
Fabric: 100% Ecovero Rayon Viscose*
Washing Instructions: Dry clean or cold hand wash - MUST dry flat due to bias panels.
*Rayon crepe fabric is an 'Ecovero' fiber - Derived from certified renewable wood sources using an eco-responsible production process by meeting high environmental standards.
Made in Yorkshire - England
Fit class: Semi-Fitted
skims the body so that is follows shape but is not tight.
This dress is bias cut and as a result it will adapt to your shape and drape around the body, skirt will mould around the hip and the bust area is free. Best choose on waist size.

A totally authentic 1930s style dress in a gorgeous print. I love the addition of the art deco style buckle.
Over the past few years my weight has crept up from a size 10 to a size 14. I ordered this dress in a 16 as i was afraid that it would be difficult to get on due to the lack of openings and it's a good job I did as it just fits me. I feel the sleeves are ever so slightly short on me and unfortunately I don't really have the figure for wearing 1930s syles which is s shame because it's my favourite era when it comes to clothing and style.
I would say that if you are not slim them foundation wear is a must with this style of dress
If I was being picky then i think I would have prefered it with a proper cuff rather than an elasticated one as I feel it would make it feel more luxurious.
