A splendid new addition to our 40s separates collection - these fabulous new trousers are an authentic rework of an original 1940s trouser pattern adapted for the modern figure and in modern fabric. Inspired by Katherine Hepburn's iconic trouser suit look.
Packed with features, this style has a wide leg with turn-up, a high waist band, side zip and fastens with a single shell-look button. The wide leg is approx 22 inches circumference. Deep pleat on the front runs into a strong and slimming crease. Style also has 2 darts on the back. Topped off with contrast top stitching - this is a fantasic and authentic style.
Key 40s features:-
- wide leg
- natural waist fit with deep waist band
- turn up
- side zip with shell-look button
- deep front pleat
- contrast top stitch on pockets & waistband
Fits on the natural waist with a wide waist band. So comfy.
Very wide leg style is great for dancing and was very typical in the 30s & 40s during the rise of sports casual styles.
Leg length: 32" (approx 31.5 inside seam and 0.5 into rise)
Fabric: Rayon/poly with a touch of elastene for stretch
Care: 30 degrees machine wash
Manufactured in the UK
These trousers fit on the natural waist but do have a nice wide waist band which can fit slightly high on some people. The fabric has some stretch but this is more a comfort stretch.
This is definitely a style that will create shape but will require correct underwear ;-)

Let me start by saying I do LOVE the basics of these trousers, they are a gorgeous colour and wonderfully swishy and dramatic. I do think I would still buy them in other colours.
However
I'm 5'8, so a pretty tall AFAB person, and these are scraping the ground to the point i'd be worried walking outside on a rainy day for fear of how grubby the hem would get.
In addition, and most importantly, the back seam on these popped open right right over the butt on only my 3rd wear. They weren't even tight on me, so I can't even say its a strained seam, just weak sticking, and I really expected more from an £85 bear of trousers. Luckily i'm a dab hand with a sewing needle so I plan to repair them, but it is still very disheartening to have to sew your trousers back up after only 3 wears.
