These trousers fit on the natural waist but rise high on most people. The fabric has no stretch - this has been accommodated in the fit/
This is definitely a style that will create shape but will require correct underwear ;-)

I was.a bit anxious about the fit of these and whether the wool would be nice, but they gorgeous. Lovely and soft. Look elegant. I'm 5'5'' and they are *just* about the right length with brogues. I just wish I'd been able to get the matching waistcoat!
Gorgeous trousers. A fabulous fit: I got an 8, a little large around the waist, as I find with most trousers, but this is easily solved by a thin belt (there are subtle loops) or a pair of braces/suspenders. Not too long -- I can easily wear a pair of either flats or heels without them looking too long or too short.
The fabric is exceptionally soft and luxurious (and great to have it in that early-20th-century blue pinstripe which you just never see available anymore!), whilst also feeling very durable. They look great with the waistcoat and a nice shirt and tie -- many compliments vouch for the fact!!
