New for Winter, is our super glamourous 1940s inspired Cape Coat in 100% wool - Prince of Wales Check. Super Limited Edition version - made on site in Yorkshire, England.
The cape coat has gone in and out of fashion for hundreds of years - and more recently revived in the 1960s. However, we came across many examples from the 1940s - where the cape coat was seen as a glamourous alternative to a fur. Longer than those from the 1960s - our measures approx 39 inches and has that signature 1940s strong shoulder design so iconic from that era.
Neckline has a slight raise/funnel for warmth and three vintage reproduction buttons down the centre front. The cape has two vents for arms and the front panel can be tied with the belt or worn loose.
There is a slight wrap on the coat - and there are press stud fastenings as closings. Nip in at the waist for a really flattering look with the tie nelt.
Fabric is a medium weight 100% wool - lining is 100% viscose.

This is a beautiful, glamorous cape that makes me feel like Lauren Bacall! I would heed the advice to choose on shoulder/frame size - I have reasonably strong shoulders and feel that the medium/large size would be a good fit no matter what my dress size is. The check is a soft and flattering mix of black, tan and cream, which I think is a bit difficult to see in the images provided. I sometimes find checks are too stark in their colour contrasts, but the fabric on this cape is lovely. This is my first House of Foxy purchase after a lengthy period of coveting and I have no regrets, even though with the currency difference to AUD this coat was rather expensive.
