Our new spring 2019 colourway for our best selling tea dance dress - named after wartime pinup 'Betty Grable'. This colourway is a stunning berry crepe on the skirt paired with our seasonal print 'Pixie' on the upper bodice.
This is the perfect dress for dancing! A most becoming dress with a demure tie neckline - softly shirred into shape with shoulder yokes and gathered under the bust.
This dress has been designed to be as faithful as possible to the 1940s styles. A slimming fit around the waist with elegant short sleeves with a touch of shirring and a sweeping 7-gore skirt to float you through any dance.
New flutter style sleeves that drape the shoulder make this dress perfect for dancing as they do not restrict the upper arm at all.
Fully lined bodice, side zip.
Fabric: The top is a lovely quality crepe 100% rayon in our signature 'Pixie' print paired with a berry top quality stretch crepe. Fabric gathers beautifully into yokes and under bust. The bottom fabric is a poly/rayon mix with a touch of spandex and means it will stretch a little to accommodate waist variances.
Key Features Include:-

This dress is free fitting on hips due to the swing skirt and skims the waist. The bust area is fairly generous but is more fitted than it looks. It is also very fitted under the bust.
Style suits pear shapes, hourglass and pillar most.
Pixie fabric has no stretch in it.

This is such a stunning colourway to the really flattering Grable dress. The skirt is a deep berry colour & the top a nice shade of pink with green accents. The skirt colour perfectly matches the What Katie Did claret seamed stockings. Teamed with the matching pixie headscarf this entire ensemble looks amazing.
The dress has a side zip & fluttery sleeves. Very comfortable yet stylish. Washes well. Great quality; really cannot recommend the House of Foxy enough.
My only issue with the dress is the fit of the top part, but it’s still wearable. I think this dress fits bigger than previous Grable dresses, particularly in the bust. I’m a small 8 on top (34A bust) & a large 8/10 on bottom (the bottom of the skirt isn’t fitted, so this is fine). I ordered the size 8. The top has a lot of spare fabric around the front and sides & the waist is fitted but not snug. Perhaps something to bear in mind if you’re small chested or petite.
I would really recommend this style/brand to anyone :-) I will no doubt be returning again...
