A wonderfully practical and flattering mid/late 1940s summer style dress based on an original pattern that wraps and fastens at the back.
One of the key aspects of the 1940s styles is its simple style lines. This dress is so simple - it's genius! The bodice is a simple sleeveless boat neck with pleat at the shoulder and under the bust. Skirt is a classic late 40s flare and has deep patch pockets on the front with button detail.
The best part is the back wrap fastening. Back has cross over (should cover bra strap) and fastens via two wooden buttons and an internal button for extra security.
Dressing Tip! For those concerned about getting this beauty on - dont be! Simply wrap the dress back to front and fasten the internal button then twist back round and the wooden buttons are done easily.
The fabric is natural 100% linen - which means it will crease a little and requires hand wash or dry clean.

I missed out on the checked linen version so was pleased to see the style come out in another, and probably more versatile colour. It also arrived earlier than expected. The fabric is light and airy so feels nice to wear and has a pretty marl/denim effect. I especially love the vintage style buttons on the pockets and back.
It's a great style but I've not given it 5 stars due to the fit not being quite right on me. It's perfect on the bust but a little tight on the waist so I'm wondering whether I can move the buttons slightly to get a more relaxed fit. Also the back crossover sits quite low on me meaning my bra shows.
Definitely recommend buying. I was unsure myself but once the dress came and tried on I very pleased and the fit is lovely on. I’m also pleased that my dress came much more sooner then expect. Thank you!
