We are terribly excited about this new style 1940s dress we have called 'Lana' in homage to the 1940s Film Noir screen siren, Lana Turner.
This beautifully simple 1940s design takes influence from American wartime styles with it's high mandarin collar neckline running into a 'daring' keyhole and flattering peplum skirt. The beauty of the dress is the simplicity of the bodice, a very typical 1940s feature. Soft grown on sleeves which hug the shoulder gives you the option to add shoulder pads if you really want to emphasise a 1940s look.
This dress is inspired by some original garments, fashion plates, culminating in some photographs of Lana Turner during her 1940s film noir period.
We love how this dress flatters the figure and enhances the waist through the over peplum - a very common feature in the 1940s due to restrictions in fabric. The peplum was a great way of using a smaller amount of fabric to create shape.
This dress is potentially more versatile than it seems, wear with black accessories for practical purposes or glam up with some bling and a fancy up do.
