The Cabaret dress is adapted from our bestselling Charm Dress and showcases more key 1930s vintage features - this time a satin top to the dress which is decorated with waterfall flounces on the bodice and on the skirt.
Satin bodice has gathers into shoulder yokes with a wide neckline. It is also gathered under the bust and the skirt and waist panel are produced in a gorgeous mid weight crepe fabric - with a touch of stretch for fit.
The most iconic 1930s feature on this dress would be the satin waterfall flounces that we've added. The 1930s was definately the era of detail and garments were often embellished. These are extra special because we've backed the black satin with ivory - a style feature often seen on mid 1930s garments where contrasts are used to enhance.

Typical of the 30s, this skirt reaches mid to low calf on average height ladies. The style is fitted down the hip and thigh and flutters out at the bottom into the iconic 1930s style. With 7 gores - the style is fairly faithful to 1930s original styles.
The skirt has a modern back zip with a deep alluring keyhole opening fastened by a top button and is part lined.

This skirt is made from fabric that has a touch of stretch in it. It does fit around hip at the top but there is stretch, so we advise to select size via waist.

This dress is seriously beautiful. I had to purchase it after having to part ways with a vintage dress that no longer fit (wish I had kept photos - it had the same ruffly detail at the front, but in pink/black).
The material is quite thick, and therefore hangs really nicely. The fit is very flattering and surprisingly comfortable. Because of how the skirt is fitted, it's easy to walk in. I'd say this is one of those dresses that you put on and just feel confident.
Some size notes: for 'fitted' skirts/dresses I always choose the size based on my hip measurement, as I'm fairly pear shaped. I typically wear a UK10 for HoF fitted bottoms and a UK8 on top/for skirts fitted at the waist, and decided to go with my usual UK10 for this.
This fits as expected. The hips fit nicely, as does the waist (it's not as fitted as I would like, but it looks fine and gives me a bit of eating room!). My only gripe is the bust - it's just far too big. If you're small on top but bigger on bottom, you may have the same issue. It looks fine with my hair down, but is obviously quite big otherwise. I still love the dress enough to not deduct any stars, but it may be something to bear in mind. Another note: this dress benefits hugely from an 'authentic' fitting bra.
Another thing to note is that, because the back zip is quite short, I had to put this on over my head instead of stepping into it. No issues, as the head opening is quite wide, but I would still recommend putting this on first then doing your hair/makeup.
Overall, I would still highly recommend this. Particularly if you're looking for an evening/special occasion dress. This is authentic, comfortable and stylish.
Breathtaking and the most stunning dress.
My normal House of Foxy dress size 10, did not fit me. It was to tight at the hips, so I returned and I will order size 12 instead.
It was difficult to put the dress on and I hope it will be easier with size 12.
