Named after one of our favourite Char ladies ;-) - Gracie is a rework of our very first 1940s style day dress. Influenced by an original CC41 dress and photos - this is a real nod to wartime styles - very wearable, flattering and pretty.
Another very flattering cut which is a classic take on the shirt dress. The wrap style shirt neckline combined with the sleeves creates the a classic wartime, early 1940s silhouette..
Dress has a shirt lapels with wrap but are fixed into the waist - pleats on the shoulder give extra bust room. Sleeves are grown on and have a small turn-up. Skirt is the classic 1940s style - not too much swing but not a wiggle either. We love to nip in the waist with the stunning belt with self covered buckle.
Key Features Include:-
- faux shirt style
- grown on sleeves
- self covered belt to nip in
- side zip
The fabrics is a mid weight 100% rayon (viscose) and as such gathers beautifully into yokes and under bust - is similar to the fabrics worn at this time. Print is our exclusive late 30s reproduction print we have called 'Bloomsbury'. A sumptuous floral print in the jewel colours. Really authentic!
Made in the Europe;
Fabric: 100% Viscose throughout
Washing instructions:cold machine wash, hand wash or dry clean - medium iron. Expect 3% shrinkage if washing. Do not wash belt
Length from natural waist: approx 26 inches
This dress is free fitting on hips due to the swing skirt. The bust area is fairly generous but will not sit right if the bust is too full. Waist band is fitted and for this reason, we strongly suggest that you select your size through the waist measurements and if unsure - opt for a size up.
Style suits pear shapes, hourglass and pillar most.
Fabric has no stretch in it - so if you are between sizes - it would be advisable to select the size above.

I was so excited to receive my new dress. The print is fantastic, the cut is very flattering, and the overall fit is perfect. I was between sizes and ordered larger for bust, as the style is belted so waist wasn't a concern. Note: This dress will accommodate a fuller bust, but will require proper foundation garments, and discreet pinning or adding small snaps to keep the neckline demure. This is my second House of Foxy dress, and I look forward to adding more pieces to my wardrobe.
I wasn't sure about buying this dress because no-one had left any reviews but I decided to take a chance on it and have zero regrets. Its beautiful and flattering and most amazingly of all it has pockets! The colour is so vibrant without clashing chaotically and is a perfect print for spring, while the fabric is quite lightweight and flowy. I usually don't buy wrap dresses because you end up with a slit up the side of the skirt which blows open in the wind but this dress only creates the illusion of a wrap at the bust - it actually has a side zip. Order to waist measurement as it is quite form-fitting. The House of Foxy makes the most amazing quality vintage reproduction pieces! I'm definitely a customer for life.
